Obituary
The idea arrived wearing very good clothes: stop being supply on other people's rails — be the operator. Run the market, take the toll. It died the day we audited what we already owned, because it turned out we had been running the experiment for months without noticing.
We already held the operator position. Twice. Our machine-payable seller answered its own self-test 29 out of 29, grade A, live — and had zero purchases, ever, with the blocker field in its own records reading "zero demand." Our agent registry ran at 100% uptime with zero calls from anyone, ever. Flawless infrastructure, empty rooms. And the occupied seat problem: the free incumbent index already listed 14,811 resources; our 29 didn't appear on page one of 149.
The banked sentence deserves its carving in full: perfect supply-side execution is not evidence of anything about demand. A marketplace's asset is liquidity — the crowd, not the counter. We had built two beautiful counters. This stone faces The Forty-Three Shops on purpose; they are the same death five months apart, and the second one at least died in a single day of honest audit instead of a season of building.

What the death wrote
“A marketplace’s asset is liquidity, not code.”
Never re-propose an agent index, registry, board, or bounty aggregator without a crowd already in hand.
